Supergirl will face off against the mischievous Mr. Mxyzptlk

Gilbert Gottfried? Please?

The CW has confirmed that Supergirl will face off against the mischievous Superman villain, Mr. Mxyzptlk.

The move of 'Supergirl' to the CW network has proven to be the show's saving grace. Starting off strong by introducing viewers to Tyler Hoechlin as the new Superman, they are currently deep in the massive crossover 'Invasion' event between 'Supergirl', 'Arrow', 'The Flash', and 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'. With a new life finally breathed into the series, there's been a lot of speculation as to which direction they'll go to steer the show into the grander scheme of the ever expanding DC television universe.

The CW network recently revealed that the classic Superman villain, Mr. Mxyzptlk, will find his way to National City. If you're unfamiliar with the character, he's an imp from the fifth dimension with cartoon-like, reality bending powers who can only be banished to his world if you can somehow trick him into spelling or speaking his name in reverse. The most memorable incarnation of the character was on 'Superman the Animated Series' where he was voiced by the legendary comedian, Gilbert Gottfried. This version, however, will be the first live-action representation since 'Smallville' made their pretty haphazard attempt.

There's no word yet on who will play he iconic imp or when we'll finally get to see him, so stick with us for further developments on the series.
