Team Ninja is already working on ideas for the next Ninja Gaiden game, which will follow the release of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, due on March 4, 2014. Studio head Yosuke Hayashi says the future title should appease fans concerned about the series.
"As we’ve talked about Yaiba, there have been some Ninja Gaiden fans who have said Yaiba’s not the hardcore action game that they’re looking for," said Hayashi in an interview. "Honestly, they’re a little hesitant about the game."
He continued, "To those people I say this: Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden. For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z would be dessert. Every course of the meal would be in the same Ninja Gaiden world, but gamers will experience different kinds of play. That’s how Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be different."
