Temple Run 2 adds Usain Bolt as a playable character

Temple Run 2 is a game about running fast. I mean, you're getting chased by freaking Evil Demon Monkeys. So it only makes sense that as the game's first branded character be someone who not only loves to run, but is also pretty darn good at it — Usain Bolt.

Imangi Studios announced today that the six-time Olympic Gold Medalist and the world's fastest man is now a playable character in Temple Run 2.

“I am a big fan of Temple Run. I travel all over the world and travel time gives me lots of opportunity to play Temple Run at airports or on car journeys,” said Usain Bolt. “It’s exciting to see myself represented within a game I already play.”

Bolt is outfitted in his signature yellow and green and comes with his own special and unique abilities, like "boosting ahead at a record-breaking pace while activating the coin magnet at the same time."

“This seemed like the most obvious and fitting partnership,” explained Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “Personally, we are huge Bolt fans and watched him race to gold last year in London. We cannot think of a better personality and role model to represent the game and encourage our players to keep running.”

Usain Bolt can be downloaded via the Temple Run 2 in-game store for $0.99. He's only available for a limited time.
