It's crazy to think that it's almost been an entire year since Terraria launched for PC. The sandbox action-adventure game hit Steam seemingly out of nowhere and went on to become a wildly popular title. The dev team's continued support of the game made for constant updates that either fixed minor bugs or added awesome new features to the game's world.
In a post on the Terraria forums, developer Redigit stated that there was going to be one more bug fix before moving on to something else. This comes as a bit of surprise, but Redigit stated that he plans on spending time with his family, which is certainly admirable. He also plans on taking a bit of a break and intends on further honing his programming and designing skills.
In addition to his plans for the future, Redigit explained that his fellow Terraria developer Finn "Tiy" Brice was going to be working hard on Starbound with his new team Chucklefish. In case you've never heard of Starbound, you should really watch out for it. It's due out this summer, and I personally can't wait to play it.
Though all of this may sadden some folks, Redigit made sure to end his post on a high note, and he really gave fans something to look forward to. "Thanks again for all your support, and I am very much looking forward to providing you with something much better than Terraria in the future!"
I can honestly say I look forward to both of these awesome devs' future projects. Terraria is an awesome experience–one that really gripped me, and one that I sunk a bunch of hours into. I look forward to seeing what these fine folks will do next. In the meantime, I think I'll play some more Terraria.
