Sony has released the first teaser trailer for The Angry Birds Movie, a 3D adventure based on Rovio Entertainment's popular mobile game Angry Birds.
It's just a teaser, so not too much is revealed; however, we do get our first look at the film's adorable characters played by a star-studded cast. Though it offers little in terms of plot, we already know the premise will follow that of the game — Angry Birds and pigs.
"The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to."
I know there's some skepticism anytime a game gets made into a movie, but the simplistic nature of a game like Angry Birds (with adorable characters) seems to lend itself quite nicely to a big screen adaptation. If you can look past your hatred of a popular mobile game, you'll see a movie that actually looks quite entertaining, regardless of how you feel about the Angry Birds game itself. Judging solely on the teaser, I can see The Angry Birds Movie being a huge hit with the kids.
