The Binding of Isaac reaches 700,000 copies sold

Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl's indie game The Binding of Isaac has pushed 700k copies in less than a year.

The Wrath of the Lamb DLC, which released in May, helped to propel sales. The main game had sold 450,000 copies back in January — months after its initial release — with the expansion selling a fifth of the current total in less than three weeks.

After the DLC's shaky launch, McMillen decided to introduce an additional content update. Wrath of the Lamb v1.3 provides more "items, bosses, enemies, music, secrets and a very hard to attain final ending cut scene that should shed some light on the games story even more."

In his press email, McMillen added, "700k is a big number… maybe its time to bring this thing to console ;)"

Sony's already expressed a strong interest in bringing the game to PSN.
