The Dark Knight Trilogy’s Batpod is going up for auction

The Batpod featured in The Dark Knight Trilogy is officially going up for auction at the end of the month.

Now that we have a new Batman in the fold, its hard not to compare Ben Affleck's version with Christian Bale's version, first introduced in 2005's Batman Begins. Considering that was the incarnation that got the public to love Batman once again, one can't help but have fond memories of the overwhelmingly popular Dark Knight Trilogy.

One of the many elements that we all loved was Batman's Batpod, the motorcycle that emerged from the Tumbler after it was destroyed by The Joker in 'The Dark Knight'. If you liked the vehicle as much as everyone else…and just so happen to have $80,000 in the bank, now might be your chance to bring it home.

PropStore.com will be holding a live auction at the end of the month, allowing one lucky fan to bid on the famous vehicle. The Batpod will come with a metal display stand and its official dimension read as 149.5" x 47.25" x 42.25" and comes with an official Warner Bros. certificate of authenticity.

This incredible vehicle features a custom-made chassis with 31" Hoosier racing tyres and a Honda 750 engine. Fibreglass body panels finished in metallic grey paint cover the bike's engine and handlebars. A pair of cannon barrels made of plastic, resin and fibreglass are secured at the front of the vehicle, and a laser targeting unit is fitted above the right hand grip. A radiator and hydraulics are fitted behind the saddle, and the braking system is operated by controls on the left handle and the right pedal. Black foam padding is installed on the body, saddle and knee rests for comfort whilst riding.

There is, however, one downside: if you plan on tearing across Gotham City in this motorcycle…you're out of luck. The model is intended solely for display purposes only. The fluids, fuel tank, battery, and throttle controls have been removed, so the Batpod is strictly a "look upon".

The auction will begin on September 27th, but you are able to place online pre-bids, or register for phone bids, here.
