The Division will be free-to-play this weekend for PC players

The Division has quietly made a pretty significant comeback in the wake of its troubled launch. After enduring a rough first few months on the market, culminating in a lot of hate, particularly for the PC version of the game, Ubisoft made a tough decision. They delayed a major piece of DLC to re-focus their efforts on fixing the core gameplay. That decision appears to have paid off, as Steam user reviews have gradually come around to a "very positive" rating.

Ubisoft is apparently so confident in the PC port that they are enticing gamers to give The Division a shot with a free weekend beginning tomorrow, December 15th and running until Sunday, December 18th. The free weekend is available exclusively through UPlay and will let you play through the entirety of the game (if you can get through it all) and its free content updates. The paid DLC, however, will still need to be bought to be played.

On top of that, The Division will be discounted by 50% during the free weekend, so if you decide that you like what you see, you can invest on the cheap and keep your progress. It's good to see such a promising game make a turnaround like this. It's not every day a game can get a second chance.
