The doctor will see you U now: Dr. Luigi coming to Wii U eShop on New Year’s Eve

Are you a fan of Dr. Mario? Well, Mario's little brother, Luigi, is continuing the family medical practice. Forget plumbing, there's more money in medicine!

During today's Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Dr. Luigi will release on the Nintendo Wii U eShop on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2013. Just like the traditional Dr. Mario games, Dr. Luigi features pill-matching gameplay. The big difference? Dr. Luigi's pills come in an L-shape. Ya know, because his name starts with an L.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that it's "harder to get a game over" because the colors in the L-shapes pills almost always match. The L-shaped pills isn't all that Dr. Luigi has, though. There's a competitive multiplayer mode where matching combos and pills changes the colors of your opponent's pills. There's also the Virus Buster mini-game from Brain Age, and a Dr. Mario mode, complete with online multiplayer and rankings.

System seller? No. But another nice eShop title to treat yourself to after the holidays. It's also a nice little title to play while you wait for the ball to drop.
