Closing out Microsoft's Xbox One event was the debut of the Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay trailer. While the trailer was indeed comprised of gameplay footage, I feel labeling it just that would be doing the trailer injustice — because, in all honesty, it was much more than that.
It was impactful; it was memorable; and most importantly, it was emotional. And I don't mean in the typical Call of Duty fashion where a giant nuke goes off as shock value. We're used to the Hollywood-feel with Call of Duty, but there's something different about Call of Duty: Ghosts. It's a script driven by character and narrative, rather than jaw-dropping explosions. And a lot of this is due to the work of Academy Award-winner Stephen Gaghan (Traffic), who penned the script for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Normally, I'm on the fence about Call of Duty games. I spend at least a month going back-and-forth with myself over whether to commit $60 to it — before I usually cave in and buy it. However, I normally get it for the multiplayer; Call of Duty: Ghosts is the first CoD game in a while that I've actually been excited for single player. Check out the trailer below and you'll see why.
