The fan-made Shadow Moses recreates Metal Gear Solid in Unreal Engine 4

However, the more popularity this gains, the more likely Konami is going to do something about it

Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 is a masterpiece hybrid of game and cinematography. The platform allowed Hideo Kojima to realize his dream of making a game that can tell a story like a movie. Looking back though, the game certainly still holds up in terms of gameplay, but man, it's not the prettiest. Sure, you could always just go play Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on GameCube, or you could wait and pray that these guys don't get a cease and desist from Konami, for wanting to recreate the game in Unreal Engine 4.

The game's creators certainly know what they're going up against, as they have posted this message to their Facebook page:

We just need to clarify something:
Konami owns the MGS copyright and therefore sooner or later
we will need their full permission.
We have therefore chosen to openly share this project from the beginning so that we can deal with any issues that may arise as they come.
We believe this is better than putting years of work into a project only
to get it shut down.
Please, respect this decision.
Thanks for your attention,
Airam.

While I would personally love to see this come to fruition, the fact is that major game publishers don't take lightly to fan remakes. Remember that this is also Konami, who just last year completely robbed players of enjoying P.T. after canceling it and then removing it completely from PSN.
