The fans have spoken, and they hate Exosuits in Call of Duty

Last week, Activision and Treyarch finally lifted the curtain a bit on this year's Call of Duty, revealing Black Ops 3. While we'll have to wait until April 26th for our first proper look at the game, the Call of Duty website has already given us a few hints as to what we can expect.

Most notably, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will send players into a "dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare."

Hmmm, sounds a bit like Advanced Warfare, which could mean Black Ops 3 could see the return of Exosuits. Although nothing has been confirmed or detailed as of yet, many fans have assumed a futuristic setting means Exosuits, or the involvement sort of superhuman abilities. And based on initial reaction, it's not something they want.

A recent poll created on April 10, shortly after Black Ops 3's reveal, asks Call of Duty players if they are pro Exo Suits or if they prefer the "traditional movement" in Call of Duty. An overwhelming large number of responses were "No, I enjoy traditional Call of Duty's," which means if Treyarch is sticking with the new form of movement introduced in Advanced Warfare, we're going to have a lot of disappointed CoD fans hoping Black Ops 3 would return to the roots of relatively "normal" FPS gameplay.

Now it's worth pointing out that the poll has only received just north of 50,000 responses, and Call of Duty's player base is well in the millions; but, it's still a fairly large sample size — and one that's overwhelmingly in favor of nixing the Exosuit. It's possible that there are still a large number of fans who don't mind, or are even in favor of, Exosuits; but, if they are then they aren't letting their voice be heard.

Right now, 43,406 players (83% of the votes) prefer traditional Call of Duty movement, while just 9,166 (17%) are pro Exosuit. As for me, I prefer the traditional movement. I absolutely hate this new trend of jetpack hovering, wall-running, boost jumping gameplay we're seeing in every first-person shooter.

Regardless of fan voting, I highly doubt Activision or Treyarch are listening to one poll. Regardless of the poll's outcome, it's likely too late to make any major changes to the overall gameplay design of Black Ops 3. Nothing we can do now but sit back and wait, and complain if we don't like it.
