The Last Guardian is still alive

The fate of Sony's The Last Guardian has been the subject of speculation for some time. It was said to be on hiatus, then it was said to still be in development. Just what exactly is going on with The Last Guardian?

Well, Shuhei Yoshida, the SCE Worldwide Studios president, has given us some answers to that question.

In an interview with GamesIndustry International, Yoshida was subjected to the questions we've all been asking. To sum it up, the game lives in Sony Studios, Japan. Yoshida "cannot" talk about what console it is coming to (PS4 anyone?), and the game hasn't been announced because they are waiting for an appropriate time and way to "re-introduce" the game.

Oh, and if you were wondering about the supposed hiatus that the game was put on, here's what Yoshida had to say about that:

"Hiatus, I never… It was Jack Tretton! He used that term, and I said no, hiatus is misleading. It was a hiatus in terms of releasing new information. The game has never stopped — the team has always been here. They're going through the re-engineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it's more engineering focused right now."

There we have it — game was never really on hiatus, they were just putting a hiatus on releasing information. Perhaps Sony didn't want to release any news so that they could bring it over to the PS4 without any added pressure. Who knows…

All I know is, I'm happy to finally be hearing about The Last Guardian again.
