Owners of a Wii U will soon be able to experience The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in glorious HD graphics. During the Nintendo Direct presentation, company President Satoru Iwata announced an HD remake of the GameCube classic will be released this fall. Iwata noted that the game was meant to help ease the wait for the next big Zelda game, which was also revealed to be in the works.
As a re-release on the Wii U, The Wind Waker will undergo a complete overhaul with upgraded graphics and an overall tune up to the game experience. What exact changes Nintendo has in mind remains a mystery, but we do know some of the Wii U functionality that will be incorporated.
The most notable being the ability to play the game off of the television and directly on the Wii U GamePad. Nintendo is also planning for Miiverse integration. The Wind Waker remake still features the same unique visual style, but the graphical enhancements were definitely visible in the screenshots they showed.
