Just days after Blizzard revealed the long-anticipated StarCraft Remaster, the company has announced that they will be giving the original version away for free following its next update. The update will come later this week for StarCraft: Brood War, taking the game to Version 1.18. The patch will also come with a few bug fixes and improvements, but the more important detail is far and away the ability for the masses to play one of the greatest games of all-time for free.
Here are the updates that are currently announced:
- Rebind keys option
- Observer mode
- "Modern" anti-cheat measures
- Improvements to compatibility with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10
More specifics on the improvements are reported to come in the next few days.
This is not the first time that Blizzard has released some of its older games to the public for free. The company did the same thing back in 2014 with Blackthorne, The Lost Vikings, and Rock N' Roll Racing. If you're interested, you can grab those games here.
