The Red Ash debacle continues

After the "Red Ash THE ANIMATION -Magicicada-" Kickstarter was a success, not to be confused with the failed Red Ash video game Kickstarter that was saved by FUZE,  STUDIO4℃ has opened a new crowdfunding platform to increase the animated short's run time.

As expected, this is going over about as well as a lead balloon filled with hydrogen and chunks of flint. It's currently unknown to us whether or not Keiji Inafune has his hands on this, since it's STUDIO4℃'s project, but it bears some appalling similarities to his crowdfunding antics of late.

For starters, do these people understand how the hell a Kickstarter is supposed to work? Kickstarter's viewed as a last resort that allows fans to come together and bring life to a project that wouldn't happen otherwise. Seeing that they've come to fans first and will "try and secure a budget for the shortage" after they see how much they can get from said fans is not going to end well, ever.

Magicicada isn't a made up word, and it's pretty fitting for what most people see as a hollow shell.

What's more, fans have already paid for the 18 minute animated short. That should have been the end of the story, but this new campaign to extend it only gets in the way of that. Similar to Inafune asking for more money to add to Mighty No. 9 despite getting more than he asked for, this looks bad and only serves to delay the production further regardless of the outcome.

Even if Inafune isn't involved this would still be bad, with its poor management and dubious, blatant rip-off of (or spiritual successor to) Kickstarter in the form of their "STUDIO4℃FUN&" crowdfunding platform. If it weren't for the hilarious spelling errors, and not specifying which currency is being used, you'd swear it was ripped completely from Kickstarter.

The spectre of Inafune casting shade and poisoning the well is just the cyanide laced cherry on top.
