The Sims 4 Create a Sim demo could be available starting August 12

Although we've had early access to The Sims 4 Create a Sim demo since early July, Electronic Arts has yet to announce a release for the general public. Up until now, all the developer has said is "later this summer."

However, after scouring the game's install folder, we've discovered a potential date — August 12th. Originally spotted by SimsVIP, we checked our own Create a Sim folder to verify the legitimacy of a "read me" file that dates the Create a Sim Demo for August 12, 2014. Seeing as how we were given access to the demo well before that, the note in the file would seem to indicate that August 12 is the day everyone will get access to the demo.

August 12 also just so happens to be one day before Gamescom 2014, which is also press conference day. So it's quite possible EA could be waiting for that day to announce the Create a Sim demo going live worldwide, similar to what they did with Battlefield Hardline at E3.

When asked about the probability of this actually being the date of release, Sims 4 producer Grant Rodiek played dumb.

@theBloomie I have no clue. At some point it might have been the date. It might still be. But, I don't know. It'll be the Summer.

The Sims 4 is due out on September 2, 2014.
