Smite – Xbox One – August 19th
Hi-Rez Studios third-person action multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) exits beta this week for its official launch on Xbox One. In the game, you take on the visage of a mythological god or other mythological figure and take part in arena combat. Though there are multiple game modes, Conquest is by far the most popular, featuring the standard 3-lane MOBA-style map in which teams battle towards victory.
Velocity 2X – August 19th
Released on PlayStation back in September of last year, FuturLab’s shoot ‘em up finally hits Xbox One and Steam this week. Velocity sees you navigate the Quarp Jet — a teleporting spacecraft — through space while avoiding and defeating enemies using bombs that can be shot in cardinal directions. While the main goal is to rescue stranded ships, new abilities and obstacles are thrown add an extra layer of depth.
Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition – August 21st
Another sort of re-release, Risen 3: Titan Lords, Piranha Bytes’ action role-playing game, debuted in August of last year. Now, the Enhanced Edition, complete with all previously released DLC and several graphical upgrades, finds its way to PlayStation 4 this week.
Which games do you plan on purchasing this week?
Well, it’s another quiet week for video games (you know it’s bad when last week’s big release was Fallout Shelter on Android), but we’re not without a few doozies to keep you busy until the start of the holiday season. Here’s what’s coming to consoles and PC for the week of August 17, 2015.
Zombi – PS4, Xbox One, PC – August 18th
Ubisoft’s first-person survival horror — one of the few decent titles available at the launch of the Wii U — is making its way to the real consoles this week. Dropping the “U” which signified it as a Wii U exclusive, Zombi drops you in the middle of London in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Your goal is to basically escape the city without dying. If you do die, however — and this is the really neat part — you spawn as another random survivor and can actually find your old character roaming the streets as a zombie and reclaim your original inventory.
Volume – PS4, PS Vita, PC – August 18th
From the developer who brought us Thomas Was Alone comes Volume, a stealth-based game whose story is based on a modern take of the Robin Hood legend.

Tales from the Borderlands continues this week with the penultimate episode of the season, "Escape Plan Bravo."
