The Wonderful 101’s size leaves no room for DLC

Platinum Games is putting together a 20-hour experience with The Wonderful 101, a "mass-hero action" game for the Wii U. That means you probably won't be seeing any downloadable content for it.

The Wonderful 101 director Hideki Kamiya said that with that length, DLC simply isn't necessary. The developer has already put everything it wanted into the game.

Kamiya's attitude certainly falls in line with Nintendo's. The company has generally avoided DLC for its games in the past, only recently testing the concept with titles like New Super Mario Bros. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U.

Nintendo is publishing The Wonderful 101 on September 15 — months after the game was originally supposed to release during the Wii U's launch window, back in November last year. HD development has simply been overwhelming for the company, which has fumbled its launch schedule with other titles as well.
