Level 5 has certainly been cranking out 3DS games like Liberation Maiden, Crimson Shroud and Aero Porter. It doesn't seem like they're planning on stopping anytime soon. Today's Nintendo Direct has announced three new Level 5 titles that are set to release fairly soon.
From the man behind Mega Man, Inafune's latest game will take WWII styled tanks, shrink them down to miniature size, and have them go up against an army of bugs. Certainly an odd premise from the guy who brough us the blue bomber.
Players will take on the role of a WWII panzer squad that has been shrunk to the size of a bug and find themselves engaged in heated battles against swarms of giant insects as they cling to the hope of returning to normal size.
Featuring tanks pulled straight from the history books, players can customize the body, turret, and paint to obliterate the bugs in their own style. In addition, BUGS vs. TANKS! offers co-op missions with up to four friends and the ability to call for friendly cover fire via StreetPass.
This game won't feature any sort of tutorial or guidance. Instead, it will force players to explore and discover for themselves the secrets that the game holds. Players will have to uncover any clues that they can to figure out the predicament that they're in. It's pioneered by Kazuya Asano and Takemaru Abiko, the duo behind games of the text based adventure and visual novel genres.
In the game, players awaken to discover that they are trapped in a Cold Sleep capsule aboard the titular Starship Damrey, with no memory of who they are or how they got there. With no tutorials, explanations, or hints provided, the game was created with the intent that self-discovery and experimentation be an integral part of the experience. An inconceivable truth awaits those willing to discover it.
Possibly my favorite from the three, this game comes from the mind of Kaz Ayabe, who has mesmerized many gamers in Japan with his heart warming stories. Attack of the Friday Monsters will put players in the shoest of a young boy named Sota, who lives in a town where giant monsters from 70's TV shows and movies, come to life to do battle, every Friday.
In ATTACK OF THE FRIDAY MONSTERS! A TOKYO TALE, he introduces for the first time, a Tokyo-life simulation game where players will take the role of a young boy named Sohta who lives where the giant monsters from the TV shows of Japan's 1970s come to life every Friday. In this rustic town of tranquil days and idyllic scenery, there lies a nostalgic tale sure to warm your heart. ATTACK OF THE FRIDAY MONSTERS! A TOKYO TALE will be the first of Kaz Ayabe’s games to be released outside of Japan.
One thing to note is that if you own any of the previously mentioned Level 5 games on the 3DS, you'll unlock bonus content for each game.
