An Uncharted movie has been in the works at Sony for nearly a decade. Many actors have been attached to play PlayStation's retired icon and there's been a ton of writers and directors who have attempted to get the ball rolling on the film to no avail. Now that Nathan Drake's story has concluded in video game format, Sony is more determined than ever to make this movie happen.
Director Shawn Levy is set to helm the film and earlier this year, we learned Spider-Man himself Tom Holland was in talks to play another iconic hero, Nathan Drake. There was some initial confusion as to if he had actually been cast but Holland revealed in July that it was nothing more than a "conversation" and he wasn't sure if it was actually going to happen.
Months have gone by with absolutely no news on the movie but Holland just made an interesting post on his Instagram. Holland posted a brief video of the start screen for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on his PlayStation 4 with the caption "For research purposes". One can only assume that those "conversations" escalated to a contract being signed and now Holland is preparing to get into character, maybe signaling a production start date sometime in 2018.
Seems like Tom Holland is officially locked in as Nathan Drake, as of earlier this year it sounded like there was some question about it.

There's been no word from Sony on the movie but Holland is pretty infamous for not being able to keep a secret, Marvel wouldn't let him read the Avengers: Infinity War script except for the parts he was in because he was known for spoiling things by accident. We'll likely hear something regarding the series in the coming months.
