Having tracked the Amazon top sellers for several months now, I’ve started to consider Just Dance 2 and Zumba Fitness the big bads of the sales charts. Anything that gets too successful can be easy to hate (see: Activision), but it’s important to keep in mind that the success of Just Dance 2 is probably helping to keep Ubisoft in business. And Majesco, well, I’m pretty sure they owe one to the creators of Zumba Fitness at this point.
L.A. Noire continues to generally dominate the North America and UK charts this week, and with good reason. Everything I’ve played so far suggests that it’s an ambitious mainstream title. Think Inception, where it’s smart, but not so smart that it’ll lose a general audience. This is the kind of game I want to buy for my dad, and the sales seem to reflect that.
In Japan, newly released Nintendo character action game Pandora’s Tower takes the top spot. Original IP from Nintendo? Yes, please. Both sales and critical reception seem solid, with Famitsu awarding the game a 31 out of 40 with individual scores of 7, 7, 9 and 8 out of 10.
