Torchlight Devs Runic Games Releases Action-Adventure Game Hob Today

Hob is the latest game from Runic Games, the developer behind Torchlight and Torchlight 2. The gameplay of Hob includes exploration and combat, which is a bit of a departure from the dungeon-crawling gameplay of their previous swan songs.

Hob offers a less straight-forward, more thoughtful experience of uncovering hidden secrets of your past. Of course, there's action along the way, all comprised of a pleasingly crafted world.

It takes place in a world of lush nature, which has overtaken the remnants of civilization. Reminiscent of games like The Legend of Zelda, you take the role of a wandering warrior, exploring the near-abandoned world to find the world's secrets. With a huge, upgradable mechanical arm, you traverse this wild world.

The art style of Hob is simple yet colorful. It also takes a silent film approach with its storytelling. The story is shown, more than told. The game launched today, September 26, on PlayStation 4 and Steam.
