After reading this title, I realized it sounds like Summit Entertainment got permission to fornicate. In reality, the studio behind the popular Twilight franchise has acquired production rights to a new sci-fi thriller titled Breed. When you read what it's about, you'll think 'Oh, that's different, but I can totally see how it might appeal to fans of Twilight.'
Here's what the plot of Breed is about:
Breed follows Alex and Leslie Twisden who lead charmed lives, have fabulous jobs, a luxurious town house on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and a passionate marriage. What they don’t have is a child, and as they try one infertility treatment after the next, yearning turns into obsession. As a last-ditch attempt to make their dream of parenthood come true, Alex and Leslie travel deep into Slovenia, where they submit to a painful and terrifying procedure that finally gives them what they so fervently desire–but with awful consequences.
Not bad, right? It's not clear how Summit Entertainment will market it, and I'm just guessing that they'll try to appeal to the Twilight fanbase. Think about it: a passionate marriage of two rich people who have dream jobs and a fancy house? Might as well name them Edward and Bella. You really want to know why I think they'll try to market it like Twilight? Erica Huggins, Jina Jones, Erik Feig and Geoff Shaevitz are overseeing this project. Feig and Shaevitz worked on Twilight together, with Feig doing all three Twilight films, as well as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
