Ubisoft's decision to annualize its Assassin's Creed franchise is seemingly paying off as the franchise has become the fourth biggest brand in gaming, trailing behind only Call of Duty, Mario, and FIFA. The announcement comes about a month after Ubisoft revealed that the Assassin's Creed franchise, which has seen a total of 15 titles released since 2007, has sold 73 million copies.
"We are extremely pleased that Assassin's Creed has become the fourth-biggest franchise in the industry," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said during the publisher's earnings call today.
As for the latest installment, Ubisoft also revealed Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has shipped over 11 million copies to date.
Looking ahead, Ubisoft has plans to release Assassin's Creed Unity this fall for Xbox One and PS4, with rumors of a last-gen Assassin's Creed also said to be in the works. Of course, Ubisoft has yet to formally announce anything for the Xbox 360 and PS3 yet. E3 maybe?
