Ubisoft dev diary discusses ZombiU’s innovative multiplayer

Ubisoft has released a new developer diary focused on ZombiU's innovative multiplayer mode. In an effort to reinvent multiplayer, Ubisoft focused on asymmetric gameplay for multiplayer – that is, the player with the GamePad is playing a totally different game as the player with the pro controller.

In the case of ZombiU, the player with the GamePad acts as the "King of the Zombies", spawning and controlling enemies from a top-down view. The second player with the more classic controller, meanwhile, is fighting for survival. Although both are playing the same game, they have two totally different objectives. Despite this single-type of multiplayer concept, ZombiU actually offers three different game modes — capture the flag, survival, and killing box (or killing as many zombies as possible).

ZombiU released on November 18 alongside the launch of the Wii U, but if you haven't yet played multiplayer I suggest you do so. You can see our preview of the multiplayer as well as the video above to hear commentary from the developers. You can check out our full review of ZombiU here.
