After years and years of delays, recasting, and more, the Uncharted movie is happening. I have typed that sentence many times but this time, it’s for real! The Tom Holland-led picture has begun filming and we have some new photos from the set.
It appears that Mark Wahlberg’s Sully and Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake are entering a formal event of some kind. They almost look to be matching their attire from the opening of Uncharted 3. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from these photos: Mark Wahlberg is not sporting Sully’s trademark ‘stache. How the hell are you going to make an Uncharted movie without giving Sully a mustache?

That said, Tom Holland says that the Uncharted film is everything he hoped for.
“Filming is going so well,” Holland said (via Comic Book). “The film is like, everything I dreamed it would be. I mean, I don’t know if you guys played the games, but I was such a huge fan of the game, and it’s been going so well.”
The Uncharted film was gearing up to film this past spring but was shut down due to COVID-19. The plot of the film is currently unknown but we do know it won’t be a direct adaptation of any of the games.
The video game franchise the film is based on wrapped up in 2016 with the fourth game. Developer Naughty Dog has moved on to other titles like The Last of Us Part II but fans hope they’ll return to the action/adventure series at some point on PlayStation 5.
Uncharted will release on July 21st, 2021, provided COVID-19 doesn’t delay it. It stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas. The film is being helmed by Venom director Ruben Fleischer.
