Uncharted PS4 development unaffected by lead writer’s departure

Sony has confirmed the departure of Uncharted writer Amy Hennig from Naughty Dog, assuring fans that development of the new Uncharted for PS4 will be unaffected.

"We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog," Sony said in a statement. "Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted."

Hennig had spent 10 years with Naughty, serving as director and writer on uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Though Sony did not specifically cite a reason for Hennig leaving the studio, it's reported that she was "forced out" by The Last of Us' Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley. As a result, they may now handle creative duties for the new Uncharted.

A new Uncharted was teased for PS4 back in November of last year. Though a full reveal is planned for some time during 2014, Naughty Dog's Community Strategist, Eric Monacelli, recently admitted that development on the game is just getting started.
