Universal Studios plans to introduce an immersive virtual reality experience for this year's Halloween Horror Nights event.
Regular patrons of Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights are likely gearing up for the premiere Orlando event this year. Their repetoir of houses usually range from those based on well-known intellectual properties like 'The Walking Dead' and 'The Exorcist', as well as new and original concepts that add to the expanding lore. While they're known for giving fans immersively terrifying experiences, this year, they plan to introduce a new element to the festivities, featuring a brand new virtual reality component.
The newest house will be called 'The Repository' and is the brain child of creative designer, TJ Mannarino, who recently detailed what fans can expect from the new addition to the park in Universal Orlando's primary blog:
"This is one of the most electrifying Halloween Horror Nights’ project I’ve ever worked on – primarily because it is the culmination of 8 years of experimental story-telling, drawing on feedback from our vast HHN audience to learn what thrills and chills them the most."
The house will place guests in teams of four to explore the paranormal environment of a centuries old, supernatural infested warehouse, brought to life by the latest in VR gaming technology. 'The Repository' will be made available for an additional $49.99 to a regular admission pass, which will officially go on sale as of August 23rd (August 16th for annual passholders).
Halloween Horror Nights runs from September 29th through October 31st!
