[UPDATE #2] Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta servers not down, so what’s error code ‘ABCDEF-HIJK-NU’

Black Ops 3's beta kicks off on PS4

***Update #2***

The Black Ops 3 beta is currently experiencing matchmaking issues. Treyarch is working on a fix.

***Update***

While some have reported the same error with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's multiplayer beta on PlayStation 4, it looks like the issue could be related to individual network settings as opposed to a widespread problem with the beta or PSN. We've tested the connection at two other locations and it has worked just fine, so it's likely not a widespread problem.

That being said, if you are having issues accessing the Black Ops 3 beta, make sure your PS4 firmware is up to date (version 2.57) and that you have proper internet connection.

So Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's multiplayer beta officially launched on PlayStation 4 today and with that comes the usual server problems that exist when a blockbuster title launches.

While we were able to access the beta for a limited time last night, it now appears the servers are struggling to keep up with the demand. Upon attempting to log in to the PS4 beta, we've encountered a strange error code "ABCDEF-HIJK-NU" which appears to signal that the servers are not available at this time. The error looks like this:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta servers down with mysterious error code 'ABCDEF-HIJK-NU'

It's unclear how widespread this issue is at the time and we've yet to hear anything official from Activision or Treyarch. It's worth noting, however, that even the status page for the beta is currently experiencing problems, displaying the message: "Sorry, an unexpected error occurred."

Again, it's entirely possible this error code could be limited to us and maybe a few others who have spoken up about it on Twitter. Being a beta for what is arguably the most popular game this year, it's entirely possible the servers are buckling under pressure. As a beta, this sort of thing is to be expected, but it doesn't make it any less annoying. On the bright side, hopefully Activision and Treyarch learn from this and work out the kinks so that we avoid these server issues when Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 officially launches.

The good news is that once the servers do come back online, you can enjoy a first look at some of the new features coming in this year's Call of Duty.
