Around a month ago Valiant Entertainment, more commonly known and referenced as Valiant Comics, revealed that they had garnered a nice investment in their movie and television, now we know what that investment will be bringing us.
Sony and Valiant are teaming up to bring us five superhero films that aren't Marvel or DC heroes, shocking, I know. The five films will bring to life two of Valiant's comics, Bloodshot and Harbinger; each will receive two films and will cross-over for a fifth film.
Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier who has the power of regeneration and meta-morphing, thanks to nanobots injected into his blood. All of the nanobot injections left him with amnesia – – his goal is to find and wreak vengeance on the people who did this to him.
The film will be managed by a pretty awesome team: John Wick's director and writer (David Leitch and Chad Stahelski) will be directing, Kick-Ass 2's Jeff Wadlow is creating the screenplay with Eric Heisserer (The Thing remake). Matthew Vaugn (Kick-Ass, Stardust, Kingsman) and Valiant's Jason Kothari are acting as executive producers.
Harbinger is about a group of superpowered outcasts called (you guessed it) Harbingers who are trying to take down the mysterious Toyo Harada – founder of the lecherous Harbinger Foundation. Eric Heisserer (The Thing remake) will be writing the script solo and no directors have been announced.
All five films will be produced by Valiant's Dinesh Shamdasani, with Original Film's Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe (The Fast and Furious franchise, 21 Jump Street). It's pretty great to see Valiant keeping a watchful eye over the films, it helps the adaptations be more loyal to the comics than not.
