Warner Bros. is submitting last year's Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition to the Australian Classification Board for approval under the recent R18+ rating. It's a move to fight a ban that took 18 years to put into effect.
The original Mortal Kombat arcade game was a deciding factor in Australia's establishment of a classification system for video games.
The board previously banned 2011's version of the game for "explicit" violence and more. But while the MA15+ guidelines weren't enough to grant Mortal Kombat entry, the R18+ rating, introduced in June, just might be.
Meanwhile, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge for the Wii U will be the first game in Australia to receive the new rating.
