[Watch] Capcom goes in-depth on the making of Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 is arguably one of the biggest surprises of 2017. It revived a once classic series that has been critically slammed for close to a decade now by basically rebooting the series from a gameplay perspective. Capcom took a series that was famous for its look and controls and changed all of that, esentially making it unrecognizable but at its core, if you looked close enough, it was definitely Resident Evil.

Many players were fearful of the first-person perspective and were concerned that the series was just copying a recent trend in the horror genre but it ended up panning out for Capcom in the end, achieving critical acclaim and financial success.

At a GDC talk, Capcom sat down and broke down how the game came to be and showed some behind the scenes footage. You can check out the insightful and fascinating talk below.

Resident Evil 7 is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
