To kick off The Game Awards 2016, Geoff Keighley presented Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima with the Industry Icon award. Keighley presented the award with a touching speech to honor the man of the hour.
Keighley says he's been wanting to give Kojima the award for the last year when he won for Metal Gear Solid V, but Kojima wouldn't accept because he wanted to move on from that painful period of his life. Kojima accepted the new award on stage and he thanked his fans.
He said he thought he lost everything last year during the troubled development of MGS V and said he realized he didn't because his fans continued to support him. Kojima then wrapped up his acceptance by showing a brand new trailer for Death Stranding which you can view here.
