[Watch] Hybrid 1st/3rd-person survival horror game, Roots of Insanity reveals its release date in new trailer

Can you figure out what's real?

PC players will be getting an all-new Survival Horror game next month as indie developer, Crania Games has announced that their current project, Roots of Insanity will release on April 3rd, 2017. The release date reveal coincides with a creepy new trailer (embedded above) that shows off the player character, Dr. Riley McClein running from a small horde of zombie-like creatures in a dark and claustrophobic hallway.

The premise for Roots of Insanity is relatively straightforward. You play as Dr. Riley McClein who is on duty on a seemingly ordinary night shift at August Valentine Hospital when everything goes to hell, and your reality becomes utter chaos amidst the horrors you see in the trailer. On top of that, your character is forced to contend with epileptic attacks that have plagued him his whole life, so holding on to what's real and what isn't, is nothing short of a challenge.

Here's a list of features that you can expect from Roots of Insanity per the game's Steam page:

  • Roots of Insanity is a FPS / TPS horror game designed and developed in Unreal Engine.
  • Immersive combat system lets you hack, slash, kick and shoot as you fight for your life.
  • Unique storyline with many unexpected twists and turns.
  • Optional areas to be discovered and explored.
  • Random loot system.

As of right now, Roots of Insanity is a PC exclusive and will launch next month.
