Warhorse Studios continues its work on what might be one of the most realistic games of all time with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. One of its most prominent feature pitches is its ability to capture melee combat across a plethora of medieval-era weapons accurately. The studio recently released an all-new trailer focusing on battle, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the developer's process in developing its systems.
Check it out:
As the video explains, Kingdom Come: Deliverance's combat bases itself on physics and the weight and impact of weapons. Stance also plays a big part in your success, as players have to balance out mixing up the attack directions with wearing down their opponents armor. There are 30 different spots on an enemy to attack, so figuring out where the weak points are and efficiently breaking through to attack them has the potential to make for one of the most in-depth combat systems in open world Action RPGs.
On top of that, your combat prowess is tied to how well-rested your character is. As creative director Daniel Vavra says, "Stamina … is lowered by low health, bleeding, or when your character is tired or hungry. So you better prepare, eat, and sleep well before you get into a fight."
Kingdom Come: Deliverance releases next year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 13th, 2018.
