WATCH: The Surge releases Behind-the-Scenes video detailing the dev’s creative process

The Surge is an upcoming Souls-inspired Action-RPG set in a Sci-Fi universe. While fans of the genre are sure to find a lot to like about the game, it may also serve as a starting point for gamers who have been on the fence. The unique hook with The Surge is the ability to target and sever body parts, which turn into loot drops that can be crafted into weapons and armor that the player can use.

Today, Developer Deck13 released a new developer video with some all-new shots of the game in action. Here's the video:

The Surge bases its narrative around tackling some real-world issues including environmental destruction, corporatism, and misuse of technology. The Exo suit that your character, Warren, utilizes is the epicenter of nearly everything you do. You'll discover blueprints for additional armor coverings, take your enemies weapons by using the limb targeting system, and power up using Tech pieces to help unlock new areas.

The Surge releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 16th, 2017.
