Radio silence. That's effectively the unofficial status with the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The Gearbox developed game has missed its launch window, and there's been no world from the publisher, Sega, on whether or not the game is still in development. Sega said in January that the Wii U version of the disappointing Aliens: Colonial Marines would arrive on March 31 — the end of the Wii U's launch window. Obviously, that didn't happen.
In February, Sega squashed rumors that the game was being canceled. Now, when Eurogamer asked the same question, Sega's response was a "no comment."
Aliens: Colonial Marines released in February for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC to less-than-stellar reviews from media and the gaming community, alike. Our own Matt Liebl reviewed it for GameZone, giving the game a 5.5/10 and saying that while it isn't the worst Alien game he's played, it does fall flat. Gameplay, textures, repetitiveness, AI logic and continuity with the movies were among the game's problems. Since launch, Gearbox has patched the game to fix some of the bugs in the game. There was hope that the Wii U version would launch with these fixes in place.
But like a Queen Alien being tossed into the silence of space by a power loader, we've heard nothing. In space, no one can hear you scream… which might be good in this case…
