While you were enjoying a Spring Sunday afternoon, YouTube was apparently buying Twitch

Ho-ly crap. What a Sunday. What a story. I mean seriously, who saw that coming?

I'm not talking about Game of Thrones; I'm talking about the fact that YouTube is supposedly buying Twitch for $1 billion. Eat your heart out, Dr. Evil.

The deal is not quite done just it, but it's one that could make a lot of sense. Twitch has continued to grow in popularity, undoubtedly making it an enticing entity for corporations such as Google. Could you imagine a world where online video and streaming content are seemlessly integrated into one? I'd personally be thrilled if YouTube can bring some of their technological pizzaz to Twitch; they certainly need it.

Things wouldn't be all roses, though. The world of video games on YouTube aren't exactly the friendliest of places. For once, I'm not talking about comments; Let's Play YouTubers underwent hell when their videos were taken down to copyright claims. I can't imagine things will go smoothly if someone is streaming a game instead of just uploading said game in bits and pieces.

I suspect that there will be a lot more dominoes ready to fall into place. We'll keep our eyes peeled and ears listening for any breaking developments.
