Why you can’t pre-order GTA 5 on Xbox LIVE

As most are aware by now, pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 5 are now available. Fans can get a head start on the game's September 17th launch by reserving their copy today on PS3 or Xbox 360; although, with the latter you are unable to pre-order on Xbox LIVE.

"For those asking about digital pre-orders on Xbox LIVE, the Xbox 360 Games on Demand service does not offer the ability to pre-order games or make them available on launch day," Rockstar wrote on their website.

"That being said, we will be making GTAV available via Games on Demand as soon as it's technically feasible and permitted by Microsoft."

Comparatively, GTA 5 is available as a day one digital download on PSN; you can even reserve your Day 1 Digital version today through the PlayStation Store to lock-in your Atomic Blimp in-game vehicle, exclusive theme, and 75% discounton any other Rockstar game on PSN.
