Wii Mini now coming to UK

Nintendo's Wii Mini, a stripped-down version of its 2006 Wii console, will now be coming to the UK. It was previously only available in Canada.

The Wii Mini is significantly smaller and cheaper than the Wii, but lacks online or backwards-compatibility functionality. It also only has one USB port and only supports composite output. It does come in a lovely matte black shell with a red border. It also includes a red Wii Remote Plus and a red Nunchuk controller.

When the Wii Mini was first announced, Nintendo claimed it's a "great value for first-time Wii owners who just want to jump in and experience all the great Wii games that helped usher in a revolution in motion-controlled gaming."

Nintendo has not yet announced the Wii Mini for the U.S., Japan, or the rest of Europe. But at $99 is it really that great of savings? The original Wii console can be found for around $120-$160.
