Nintendo has released the latest Wii U firmware update, version 4.0.0 U, and while it's jam-packed with new features the most notable is easily the ability to out video and sound to the Wii U GamePad when using Wii Mode. Nintendo notes, however, that Wii software is only displayed on the Wii U GamePad and cannot be controlled by it; therefore, the Wii Remote Plus or Wii Remote is still required to play Wii games.
