Windows 10 will be getting a ‘Game Mode’ that will enhance your PC Gaming experience

Windows 10 has had its ups and downs, but there's been no denying that Microsoft's iterative dedication to the OS has been top notch. And if what one fan has discovered is true, gamers will have a lot to be happy about in the future. According to a Twitter user who goes by the name WalkingCat, the recently leaked build, 14997, contains a file called "gamemode.dll."

According to WalkingCat, the file will allow Windows 10 to adjust its resource allocation to prioritize the game you are playing when you have the OS running in "Game Mode," allowing for a better-optimized experience.

Here's the tweet:

And an image of the file:

Right now, it's unknown whether this mode will launch with the upcoming Creators Update that's due to come sometime in early 2017 or whether the mode will work with games not purchased from the Windows Store (Steam, uPlay, Origin, GOG). It'd be pretty terrible if it didn't, but you never know.

If this mode encompasses all platforms of digital game purchases, it has the potential to be a real game changer, especially for those who use only mid to low tier laptops. You guys know better than anyone that the struggle is real.
