Witcher studio CEO on Xbox/PS4 cross-play: ‘F**kin’ yeah!’

Welp. That's one emphatic answer to a question if I've ever seen one. Martin Iwinski, the CEO of the uber-player-friendly CD Projekt RED, told Games Industry Biz that he is all for Microsoft's initiative of openness and cross-platform compatibility, specifically in regards to the PC and Xbox One.

"If you look at Microsoft today and Microsoft ten years ago, it's a very different company…In the past it was very Microsoft-ish to lock down everything, to make sure they had full control." Iwinski said.

"So let's cut Microsoft some slack, and see if they will follow up in terms of what they are preaching about openness. In my opinion, it's the only way to go for them, and the announcement about cross-play? F**kin' yeah. Cross-play with other networks? That's not the Microsoft of ten years ago. No way." he added.

So far, Microsoft has made good on their initiate of cross-platform openness, especially since the launch of Windows 10. Some games, like Quantum Break came with a free PC version of the game via Pre-Order (despite the fact that they had some issues getting codes out to people).

Microsoft has also been open about congratulating its closest competitors on successful exclusive launches, so maybe, just maybe one day PlayStation and Xbox fans can finally settle their differences online if the two companies can come together on some dialog. Maybe.
