Wonderbook: Book of Spells features writing from J.K. Rowling

Sony has announced Wonderbook: Book of Spells, which uses Augmented Reality technology and PlayStation Move products to bring stories to life in your living room.

London Studio, the team behind the EyePet and EyeToy games, is developing the interactive project. Together the book and the Blu-ray game will cost $39.99.

The company has revealed that the Book of Spells derives from the Harry Potter world and is an enchanted tome written over 200 years ago by Miranda Goshawk. Opening the book transports users to the Hogwarts library, where players can learn 20 spells and earn house points like any other young wizard or witch.

Wonderbook: Book of Spells is the closest a Muggle can come to a real spellbook," said author J.K. Rowling. "I’ve loved working with Sony’s creative team to bring my spells, and some of the history behind them, to life. This is an extraordinary device that offers a reading experience like no other.”

It sounds much more interesting — and reasonably priced — than the new PlayStation Move Racing Wheel that Sony also revealed today.
