World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor arriving ‘no later than Dec. 20’

World of Warcraft's next expansion, Warlords of Draenor, will release "no later than" December 20, 2014, Activision announced today.

Revealed back in November 2013, Warlords of Draenor is a new expansion that, in addition to introducing new content, will completely revamp World of Warcraft's graphics. Classic races will sport higher detail, updated animations, and all new visuals "that reflect the soul of hte original models."

In addition to the updated models, the expansion will introduce the world of Draenor — home of the orcs and bastion of the draenei — before it was shattered into what is now known as Outland. It'll also increase the character level cap to 100 and provide players with one instant character boost to level 90, making it easier to enjoy the new content alongside friends. Perhaps the most intriguing feature, however, is the addition of a Garrison, your own personal fortress that you build, staff and manage.

During the earnings call, it was also revealed that World of Warcraft remains the number one subscription-based MMORPG with approximately 7.6 million subscribers as of March 31, 2014.
