WWE All Stars Slams Its Way to the 3DS

WWE All Stars saw a good amount of commercial and critical success when it launched earlier this year. The game offered a change in direction for the WWE license of video games, providing a gameplay experience that combined good old grappling with fast-paced arcade mechanics. The game was delightfully over-the-top, and it was a breath of fresh air from the tired SmackDown vs. Raw series.

Now, THQ is looking to expand WWE All Stars. The company announced that the arcade grappler would make its way to the Nintendo 3DS this November. Like the previously released versions, WWE All Stars for the 3DS will include a number of WWE Legends and current Superstars. Additionally, the game will come pre-loaded with the 13 Superstars previously sold as DLC for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

WWE All Stars will also feature two additional modes. As most wrestling fans may be aware, Gauntlet mode will force players to, well, run the gauntlet, as they take on Superstar after Superstar until they’ve beaten every wrestler in the game. Score Scramble will have players either accruing a certain number of points or battling the clock to see how many points they can score within a preset time limit.

Some gamers may scoff at the idea of the 3DS getting a port of a game that launched several months ago, but I don’t think it’s all that bad. WWE All Stars seems like the type of portable gaming experience that could really be a lot of fun for wrestling fans. Just ask those individuals who got the game for PSP. WWE All Stars will launch for Nintendo’s dual screen handheld on November 22.
