X-Wing vs Tie Fighter recreated in Project Spark for Xbox One

Project Spark, an open-world 3D digital canvas that supposedly gives you the tools to create games within the game, looks promising. In the E3 preview alone, we saw the potential to make all sorts of games ranging from action RPG to racing to tower defense. "The power of creation is in your hands," the tagline promises. "Just spark your imagination."

That's exactly what the developers at Team Dakota are doing and the results seem to be pretty cool. Speaking to OXM, Microsoft Studios manager Michael Saxs Persson claimed that members of the team have recreated X-Wing vs TIE Fighter as well Force Unleashed.

“We often challenge ourselves to reconstruct popular games," Persson said. "One of our guys did X-Wing vs TIE Fighter – every power up was included and the X-Wing was fully functioning. Somebody else did Force Unleashed, just to see if it could be done.”

He added, "I think the fun for me is to see genres come alive that are not doing particularly well, but they should. Like 90s-style RPGs, where they are full of adventure and wonder and you’re just hanging out talking to townspeople."

“One of the engineers, she made, like, this 40-minute epic quest," Persson concluded. "I can’t remember the last time I saw something like that. Perhaps Final Fantasy back in the ’90s?”
