If you enjoy sports, the Xbox 360 may be your console of choice. In addition to the already robust lineup of sports entertainment apps available on Xbox LIVE, Microsoft today announced they will be expanding their lineup to include NBA and NHL coverage along with an even more impressive ESPN app.
At today's E3 press briefing, Microsoft announced plans to bring NBA League Pass. Details were very scarce, but it is said to bring Xbox 360 owners and basketball fans access to over 2,400 live game feeds and highlights. You will likely need to already be signed up with NBA League Pass to access this content, as well as an XBLA Gold subscription.
NHL will also be coming to Xbox LIVE with NHL Game Center. Now hockey fans can enjoy "every moment of action" with 40 games per week, home or away audio broadcast, replays and highlights.
That's not all. The ESPN app, which was added to XBLA earlier this year, will be getting an improvement "later this year". ESPN live programming will soon be available through Xbox 360, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, and ESPN U will all be available on Xbox 360 which means shows like SportsCenter, Mike and Mike, Sports Nation, NFL Monday Night Football, and much more will be accessible through your Xbox 360 console.
During the conference, Microsoft also announced partnerships with Nickelodeon, Machinima, Paramount Movies, and Univision adding even more entertainment to Xbox 360.
Details were very vague as to when these would be released, but I expect them to arrive before the end of 2012. Well, I no longer need cable. Thanks Microsoft!
