Over the last six years you have been able to add a personal touch to your Xbox 360 (and Xbox One) with the customization of your Avatar. After their original reveal, Xbox Avatars haven't changed too much — disregarding the heaps and heaps of new items and outfits you can purchase for them.
Coming into a new year, your Avatar is about to get a a facelift…Well, it's in the works. Microsoft is looking to hire two engineers to work on "Develop[ing], design[ing], modify[ing] and optimiz[ing] graphic and related rendering systems for the Avatar ecosystem."
The make-over for your Avatar will not only be limited to your console. In the advertisements for the positions (1,2) Microsoft uses the same description (makes sense, they are both for engineering positions):
At Xbox, we’re looking for an experienced graphics engineer that will work with us to grow the avatar platform across all of our platforms, leveraging the power of Xbox One, the far reach of Windows, and the intimacy of touch on mobile devices. You will make significant contributions to the rendering tech for the Avatar engine, working to ensure Avatars are not only gorgeous, but highly performant across a wide scale of devices.
An interesting part of the job ad claims that Microsoft plans on takes the Avatars on their "biggest adventure yet" and to "a bigger stage." There is no specification on what the adventure or stage is yet, but let's be honest…It only matters if it's 1 vs. 100.
You heard me MS, bring back 1 vs 100.
